Frugal Ways to Celebrate Summer Solstice
Happy Summer Solstice! This day is also celebrated as the pagan holiday Litha. Times are hard for a good majority of us, so it becomes difficult to keep up with celebrations & holidays without taking a hit financially. So here are a variety of ways you can celebrate without having to foot a big bill:
-
Bake Litha Honey Cakes
- Check out The Archive for recipes we post, but there are plenty of recipes online that can breakdown the process of making Honey Cakes.
-
Sun Bathe
- Even if its for five to ten minutes. Lay in the sun & soak up that sweet Vitamin D. Connect with that sun energy!
- If you do this longer than five or so minutes, be sure to keep something nearby to hydrate you. Water is best!
-
Make Summer Solstice Solar Water
- Water charged in the sun which represents masculine energy. The Summer Solstice is a perfect time to make this! To give it a lil' oomph, hold the jar in your hands to charge it with your energy. Focus on the jar and imagine it filling with a golden light.
- Solar Water Witchcraft Properties & Uses: Clarity, Cleansing, Confidence, Courage, Growth, Happiness, Healing, Justice, Power, Protection, Strength, Vitality, etc.
- Examples of What to Use Solar Water for:
- You can water your plants with solar charged water. My plants love moon & sun charged water!
- You can use Solar Water to bless & cleanse your spiritual supplies/tools. Such as: Athames, Bones, Candles, Crystals, Dice, Jars, Staffs, Tarot Deck, Wands, etc.
- You can drink Solar Water to help your energy level. Almost like an energy drink!
- Clean your altar space with Solar Water to cleanse the space and invite positive energy.
- Sprinkle a little bit of Solar Water in the corners of your home and over your threshold to ad a layer of protection. For the corners in your home, you can put the Solar Water in a spray bottle & then spray the corners. That way you have more control over the amount of water being used.
- Wipe down your mirrors (magickal or not), your door, & doorway to add a layer of protection within your home.
-
Draw A Magical Bath
- Use your favorite bath bomb, or a few drops of your favorite witchy oil (olive oil is a good substitute). Be ginger with how much oil you out in your bath, a few drops is perfect. Add some of your charged Solar Water if you're in need of a cleansing or revitalization.
- Put on some music or ambiance soundtracks and relax into the warm water. Imagine the water is revitalizing you. Bringing you back to life by taking away the weight that holds on to you.
- Pour the water over your head either using your hands or a plastic cup/pitcher as you say " With this water, I wash all negative energies & blockages away. With this oil, I welcome positivity & abundance.". Repeat this however many times feels right to you. I personally say it three times.
- Once you're done with your bath, be sure to air dry. If you cannot handle air drying out, gently pat yourself dry with a towel.
-
Dance!
- Put on your favorite music & feel it out! So what if you don't know how to dance? Hell, I barely know how to! Your body needs to loosen up and the best way to do that is dance.
- If you are not able to dance, merely listening to music you enjoy helps. Take a moment to really feel the beat, listen to each part, consume the words. What does this song mean to you?
-
Simple Remove Negative Objects Spell:
- Write down negative things you want to get rid of in your life on a piece of paper. Really take time and think about what needs to be removed.
- Once you're done, fold the paper away from you. Fold it at least three times, each time away from you.
- You have the option to safely burn it in a burn safe container. You must keep an eye on it as it is an active flame. Another option is to rip the paper and let it blow away in the wind. It must be a windy day. Or you can take it off your property and bury it at a crossroads.
- Then perform a cleansing on yourself. Whether with smoke, sounds, water, etc. Imagine all the negative energy leaving you as you cleanse. The imagine a white or golden light surrounding you.
- Once you've finished cleansing yourself you can take this time to do some shadow work journaling on your experience and feelings.
-
Clean!
- Clean your hearth (kitchen) & your altar(s). These are crucial spiritual areas of your home aside for your doors and windows.
- Set out a little offering of a trinket, drink, smoke, incense, flowers, loose change, etc. to your ancestors or deities. Express your gratitude to them either out loud or to yourself.
- Make sure your door/entrance area is dusted and swept clean. Shake out those rugs & cleanse the area.
